Hi, my name is Audreanne and I have been in my program "Youth and Adult Correctional Intervention" for almost 2 years. My glossary is for people that want to learn more about common words we use in this program.This glossary contains the words people can use to describe Youth and Adult Correctional Intervention. This glossary will help people to understand the terms used in my program. I chose 20 words do describe in my glossary. I chose words that are found in my notebooks of my program. I found the pictures and definitions on Google. This glossary will help people know what I'm studying.

Addiction: noun; The fact or condition of being addicted to a particular substance, thing, or activity.; Example: She is having difficulty finding a job due to her drug addiction.; en: addiction
Arrest: verb; Seize (someone) by legal authority and take into custody.; Example: He was arrested for drug possession.; en: arrêter
Assault: noun/verb; noun: A physical attack. verb: Make a physical attack on.; Example: He committed an assault on his neighbor in order to steal her wallet.; en: agression
Cell: noun; A small room in which a prisoner is locked up or in which a monk or nun sleeps.; Example: He stayed in his cell all day.; en: cellule
Crime: noun; An action or omission that constitutes an offense that may be prosecuted by the state and is punishable by law.; Example: In 2012, Roger committed a crime by stealing his friend's car.; en: crime
Criminality: noun; Behavior that is contrary to or forbidden by criminal law.; Example: He grew up in an atmosphere of criminality because of his two parents.; en: criminalité
Delinquency: noun; Minor crime, especially that committed by young people.; Example: His delinquency is due to his mother encouraging him to sell drugs.; en: délinquance
Homeless: adjective; (A person) without a home, and therefore typically living on the streets.; Example: This girl was homeless when she was young.; en: Sans abri
Law: noun; The system of rules which a particular country or community recognizes as regulating the actions of its members and which it may enforce by the imposition of penalties.; Example: He was brought to court for breaking the law.; en: Droit ou Loi

Penitentiary: noun; A prison for people convicted of serious crimes.; Example: He is incarcerated in a penitentiary for much of his life.; en: Pénitencier
Prison: noun; A building in which people are legally held as a punishment for a crime they have committed or while awaiting trial.; Example: Steven has spent half of his life in prison.; en: prison

Trafficking: verb; Deal or trade in something illegal.; Example: They accused him of trafficking when he was 24 years old.; en: trafiquer
Vandalism: noun; Action involving deliberate destruction of or damage to public or private property.; Example: What he did was an act of vandalism.; en: vandalisme
